Now, let’s talk about the fee required forLadakh inner line permits.
It is pretty simple and as per 2019-2020 season,you need to pay a one time fee of Rs 400 that includes Rs 300 environment fee and Rs 100Red Cross fund fee. In addition to the Rs 400, you need to payRs 20 per day for the total days you need the permit. Let us break it using an example. Suppose you want to stay in Ladakh and dosightseeing for 7 days. Then you need to pay Rs 400 environment fee+ 7 times Rs 20 that is Rs 140 which totals to Rs 540 per person. Well, now let’s see what are the differentways you can apply these inner line permits of Leh – Ladakh trip. Let’s look at them one by one. 1. First, let’s talk about how you can apply theseLadakh inner line permits online. Well, you can apply these inner line permitsfor Leh Ladakh online at the official website www.lahdclehpermit.in.
Link is available in the description as well. I am going to use my own article availableon DevilOnWheels blog to walk you through the steps required to apply these permitsonline using the official website. You can find the link of this article in thedescription of the video as well. After visiting the website, once you clickon the “Apply for Permits -> Domestic Clients” button on the center bottom of the screen. It will take you to the first step of providingthe details of the Domestic Tourist applying for the permits. On this page, you need to enter your detailsincluding Name, State, Gender, Id Type, Id Number, and Home Address. Apart from that, you need to choose if youare applying directly or through an agent. You should choose to apply directly becausewith the agent option;
you have to get in touch with the agent to get your permit processed. If you select the tour operator, then youcan pay the fee online to them and get in touch with them to get the permits in advance. Of course, the tour operator will charge youthe fee for their services. However, if you select it yourself, you needto pay the fee and get the permit copies stamped at Leh DC office or Tourist Information Centerin Leh. Lastly, you need to enter the Leh ArrivalDate. Then, you click on Submit. When you click on submit, it will take youto the screen with two options “Click here to issue an individual permit” and “Clickhere to issue group permit.” If you are applying for the permit alone,you need to click on the Individual permit option else if you are in a group, choosethe group option and add details of other users on the next screen. Once, choose the respective option (and fillgroup details in case of group option), you will go to the next screen where you needto select among the circuits which you plan to visit in Ladakh, and a reference numberwill be present on the page.
PLEASE NOTE the reference number and saveit somewhere as it will be required to Print the permit whenever you need it. Second Part Select the required circuits as per your itineraryof the Ladakh trip. As you cannot reissue the permits, so chooseall the circuits at once when applying for the permits. This table will help you for checking theseoptions on what to choose for what circuit or sightseeing place you have in your itinerary. Final Part Finally, enter the Start Date and End dateof the permit which will define the total fee for your permits. Click on Apply for Permits button which willtake you to the confirmation page that tells you about the selected circuit details withdates of the permits. You need to click on the Proceed button togenerate your permit. Print a few copies of this permit. Download the sample online permit for referencepurposes only. The permit has your total inner line permitfee. You can choose to click on the Pay Now optionto pay the permit fee online using a Credit or Debit Card via Jammu & Kashmir Bank onlineportal. You can pay the Permit Fees online using allmajor Credit/Debit cards and Net Banking of all major banks. On successful payment processing, a receiptwill be generated; each transaction you can identify by a unique identifier known as CollectionID.
The payer is required to take printouts ofPermit Receipt and Easy Collect Transaction Receipt. SMS and Email will be sent to payer confirmingreceipt of payment. This was all about the process of gettingthe Ladakh inner line permits online. However, there are few caveats that you mustbe aware of. 1. Firstly, as the process keeps changing, lastI knew, you have to visit the Leh DC Office or Tourist Information Center for verificationof your permits and get them stamped. So, if you do not want to pay online, thenvisit the Leh DC office or Leh TIC office and there, you can pay the permit fee whilegetting the verification done for your permits. 2. You can use the reference number to reprintyour permit from the Homepage menu options again. 3. Again last I checked, you cannot apply onlinefor Hanle permits. Either you have to follow the manual processof applying these permits or you can also take these printouts to Leh DC office, andthey will be able to put Hanle stamp on these online permits too. Again these things keep changing,
so pleaseverify the current process. 2. Now the Second option is that if you do notwant any hassles, you can get the permits work done in advance by getting help froma tour/travel agent or with the help of the hotel you will be staying in Leh. Even the taxi drivers that you can book directlycan help you get these permits, mostly without any service fee. You can either choose to hand over the entireapplication process to them or you can apply for the permit online yourself and then sendthe required documents to them. The travel agent/hotel guys can pay the requiredfees to get the permit copies for you in that case. Of course, they will charge some service fee. 3. Third option is to apply these permits atLeh DC office in person when you reach there. I am not going to go into the details of thisprocess in this video as in today’s online world, only very few people use this mechanism of applying the permits. But, just in case if the website is not workingfor you or you didn’t know the online application of these permit exist, then a step by stepprocess is detailed in the link I have shared in the description of this video. You can find all steps and required template forms to download as well from it.
