Itinerary for Cycling tour in Ladakh

Day 1 Leh:  After reaching Leh airport, our driver will transfer you to the hotel for check-in. on your first day, you will take a rest for the next day to begin your cycle trip. you can check our cycles on the day first and go for nearby cycling to Leh Mall Road which remains busy all the time.

In the evening you can enjoy local foods at stalls or simply take dinner at your hotel.

Day 2 Leh: On day 2, you can cycle around Leh to adjust to the activity for visiting out to more farther destinations. You will explore Leh and its beautiful landmarks. The most famous attraction to visit is Leh Palace, which is situated on a mountain overlooking the Leh valley. It is an old nine-storey palace that was built by Ladaki king Sengge Namgyal.

You will move to Shanti Stupa in the evening which is a recent attraction built by a Japanese Buddhist in collaboration with Peace Pagoda Mission. This place offers amazing views of Leh and its scenic beauty. After that, you will return to the hotel for a night stay.

Day 3 Leh-Stok Palace- Spituk Monastery- Leh: Right after having breakfast, you will leave for a tour of 15km to the south of Leh city to Stok palace. It is a 19th-century palace that is still the residence of the royal descendants and a major part of it is open to the public.

The Cycling in Ladakh then takes you to the road along the Indus River to Spituk monastery, one of the most popular gompas of Ladakh. The name “Spituk” means “exemplary” in Tibetan language.

Cycling on this day is much easier with a bit of thin oxygen in the air along the road. After Spituk, you will be transferred back to Leh for an overnight stay.

Day 4 Leh-Shey-Thiksey-Hemis monasteries-Leh: Make your cycling trip complete by visiting monasteries to explore the Buddhist religion and culture. After beginning your trip, you will reach 15 south to Shey which is the old capital of Ladakh. Shey is a monastery with a huge statue of Buddha, old murals, and a painting depicting Padma Sambhavava. Next, you will move to Thiksey Monastery which features a 12-meter-high gilded statue of Maitreya.

After that, you can tour Hemis monastery which has an assembly hall of 36 tall wooden columns and colossal statues. Then you will be transferred back to Leh for a night stay.

Day 5: On day 5, you will take breakfast and leave for Alchi monastery which is situated 60 km to the west of Leh. At Alchi, you will witness age-old shrines and some majestic murals of Buddhism. Also, there are various paintings of deities, the colossal statue of Avalokiteswara, the idol of Manjushri, and the sculpture of Vairochana. After that, you will be taken to a hotel for a night’s stay in Alchi.

Day 6: Alchi-Lamayuru-Alchi: Visit Lamayuru, which is a wonderful place located in panoramic landscapes around hills with steep slopes. Lamayuru is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist sites of Ladakh. It is famous among tourists for witnessing the statue of thousands of armed and eleven-headed Avalokiteswara. Next, you can visit Dokhang, which is a bundle of colors and features giant idols of Buddha Shakyamuni and his two disciples Sariputra and Mogallana. You can also visit the 900-year-old Sengge Gang temple. In the evening, we will drive you back to Alchi for a stay.

Day 7 Alchi- Rizong Gompa- Leh: After breakfast, leave for Rizong Gompa which is one of the recent monasteries of Ladakh built in 1831. This monastery is of Gelugpa order and has an assembly hall with a beautiful image of Shakyamuni Buddha.

After that in the evening, we will take you back to Leh for dinner and a night stay.

Day 8 Leh- Khardung La- Leh

At last, we will take you on a cycling trip to the highest motorable pass in the world Khardung La which is about 5359 meters high. Here you will enjoy amazing views of Ladakh. After that, you can cycle back to Leh.

Day 9 Tour end: Your Cycling in Ladakh ends here and we will take you to Leh airport.
